Hope of Restoration

How to Find Hope in Restoration When You’re Hurting

Do you ever struggle to find the hope of restoration in the midst of deep brokenness and hurt?

Do you ever feel out of reach of the redemption and restoring power of Christ?

Some of the most powerful brokenness in my own life has torn my heart from the hope of Christ. I’ve been in the valley of darkness and lost sight of that hope and restoration. I’ve wandered in the desert of my own wasteland, forgetting that God was beside me all along.

How to Find Hope in Restoration When You're Hurting

And as God was calling me to Himself during that time, I struggled to cling to that hope of restoration because I felt unworthy and unlovable. My heart was cloaked in brokenness and despair, I feared I would never be restored.

But these very things were lies from Satan. He knew my heart feared I was unlovable and he did all he could to remind me of that. He knew the brokenness overwhelmed me and he placed it in front of me day and night.

Is there a part of your life that begs for restoration? Is Satan convincing you of the lie that restoration is too far off or impossible?

I want to proclaim to you today that God is working restoration in your heart and in your life.

It may not feel like it, but His redeeming power is already at work in you. From the moment you gave your life to Christ, He made you His own.

He made you new and is working to restore you to full healing and hope.

If you need this hope today, I encourage you to read through each of these reminders and proclaim them over your own life.

Read them, print them out (subscribe & find them in the Resource Library), memorize them, proclaim them over your life. Fill your heart with these truths and you will find the strength to cling to the hope of restoration and redemption in your heart.

You are Made New In Christ

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! -2 Corinthians 5:17

The old is gone. Everyday that you submit to the Lord, the old is gone. His mercies are made new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).

Your sins are forgiven and the old is no longer remembered.

You don’t have to carry around the weight of your past. You don’t even have to carry around the weight of yesterday.

If there is something in your past or in your life that is weighing you down and stealing your hope, peace and joy, I want to encourage you to surrender it to the Lord today. Confess any sin that may be keeping you from that freedom and God will forgive you completely.

You are made new in Christ. A blank slate, a fresh start.

God is Making a Way

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. -Isaiah 43:19

Do you feel like you are wandering in the wilderness or the wasteland of brokenness?

Even after I was out of broken situations in my life, I still felt my heart wandering in the wasteland of that brokenness. That pain and struggle does not just disappear overnight. It doesn’t just go away the moment we are out of the situation. Unfortunately, when our hearts are broken, restoration takes time.

But what a glorious promise that God gives us in Isaiah. He is making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

His restoring and redeeming love for you is at work in your life right now.

He is doing a new thing in your heart. He is making a way for restoration for you. Cling to that promise.

He is Making You Beautiful

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. -Ecclesiastes 3:11

The Lord is making your beautiful right now. He is making your story beautiful. Cling to the promise that in perfect timing, God is restoring you. It will look different for everyone, but He knows what you need and He promises to provide as you walk through this journey.

As you continue to walk forward in faith, he is restoring you. Rely on His strength and don’t give up walking forward because in His perfect timing, you will reap the harvest of restoration.

You are Wonderfully Made

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. -Psalm 139:14

I often struggle to live out this truth. I spend a lot of time feeling like I’m not beautiful and wonderfully made. I struggle with health problems and I also struggle with brokenness that has affected my entire life. It’s hard to look at my heart and say that God made me this way and views me as wonderful.

But there is a difference between fearfully and wonderfully made and perfect.

God did not say that we were made perfectly. He said that with great reverence and consideration, he crafted our hearts and our bodies.

You are wonderfully made. This means that God knew exactly what He was doing when He created you and He called you wonderful. No matter the brokenness, the hurt, the physical limitations and the hardship in your life, you were carefully crafted and called wonderful.

When Satan tries to steal this truth from your heart, remind him of it. Proclaim this over your life each day.

God’s Restoration is at Work in You

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. -Isaiah 61:1-3

The promises in this section of Scripture have the power to defeat all of Satan’s lies about God’s redeeming work in your life.

When you feel far from the reach of God's redeeming love, remember that he is working to bring you freedom and a crown of beauty instead of ashes. When you feel alone and defeated, remember that God has brought you comfort and provision. He has brought you a garment of praise and joy.

God's plan for us all along was for redemption and restoration.

From the moment that Satan tempted Adam and Eve into sin, God planned to send His son as the perfect sacrifice to bring us hope and healing.

When you feel discouraged, unworthy and broken, cling to the promise that God is redeeming you and restoring you. Cling to the hope of restoration and you will find the strength you need to walk through the healing process.
