How to Pray Over Your New Baby
Prayer is powerful. God moves when we pray, not only in what we pray for but in our own hearts. He hears us when we pray and He wants to hear from us.
Praying over your new baby is a powerful way to pour the power of God’s Word over your new baby. It is also a powerful way to surrender your little one into the loving arms of the Almighty God.
But if you’re like me, it can be hard to know what to pray and how to pray over your little precious one.
Start by praying the Scriptures above. You can take any Scripture and just read it or pray it over your new baby.

Ways to Use Bible Verses for a New Baby
You can use these Scriptures in so many ways! Whether you’re looking to use them for your new baby or looking for gift ideas for new moms, here are some ideas:
Nursery Decor
There are so many cute printable Scripture wall decorations out there. You can walk through a store like Hobby Lobby or At Home and see so many cute things to hang around the nursery. You can also find tons of these on Etsy.
These are great gifts for a baby shower and also really fun ways to decorate your nursery as you prepare for your own new baby!
Scripture Cards
I printed out so many Scripture cards and even ended up writing down some verses in those early weeks with a new baby. I wanted to have reminders all around the house – especially in areas like where you nurse your baby or rock your baby.
Scripture Gifts
You can give mugs, blankets, stuffed animals and so many more cute ideas that have Scripture engraved or printed on them.
As a new mom, I loved mugs with Scripture because let’s be real – coffee is a big part of functioning through the day on just a few hours of sleep!
I love the idea of blankets or animals with Scripture that my baby can keep close and that I can reflect on every time I see them.
Phone Backgrounds
We pick up our phones so many times throughout the day, especially if you’re spending hours nursing a little baby! So using Scripture as your background or lock screen is a great way to focus your mind on the Lord and remind yourself to pray Scripture over your new baby!
Power of God’s Word for Our Children
Don’t underestimate the power of God’s Word in the lives of our children. As we pray Bible verses over our new babies and teach them the Scriptures, God is present and active and at work.
Here are some bible verses that show the power of God’s word in the lives of our children and in our lives as parents:
Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
God’s word is a powerful offensive weapon against Satan’s schemes.
Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.
God’s Word lights our path and will light the path of our children as they grow.
Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
God’s Word is our guide as parents and we can teach our children to use it as their guide as well.
Romans 10:17
So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Our children need to hear God’s Word in order to believe in Christ.
