Thanksgiving Crafts for Kids

Thanksgiving is a great time to teach your child about the power of gratitude!

Gratitude has the power to rewire your brain to be joyful despite changing circumstances. This is something I want to instill in my children from a young age.

As we focus on cultivating a habit of gratitude, our children will learn to answer the call to give thanks in everything (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Thanksgiving Activities To Do With Your Kids

Here are some fun activities that you can do with your child (you can get this entire activity pack with devotional questions to guide your child through the Scriptures here)

1. Gratitude Hands

Trace each family member’s hand and then cut out several copies in fun fall colors (red, brown, orange, yellow). I like to have about 5 each. On each hand have that family member record something they are thankful for. You can string these up as a banner which is fun to display at your Thanksgiving celebration.

2. Gratitude Journal

A gratitude journal is a great way to record what your child is thankful for. You can make your own or buy a small journal. We had fun printing out these covers and cutting them out of construction paper. If you cut several pieces of construction paper in thirds and then stack them, you can make mini journals. The covers are found here.

3. Gratitude Reminders

My kids had a blast cutting out little gratitude reminders and placing them around the house. I would hear my four year old thanking God for things as he washed his hands because we had one of these little acorn gratitude reminders at the bathroom sink. You can write your own or use the ones in this pack.

4. Thankful Name Turkey

You can cut out a turkey with its feathers as a fun way to practice writing your child’s name or to record things that they are thankful for! Color, cut and glue a turkey together as a fun activity to practice gratitude and preschool skills. This turkey can be found here.

5. Thankful Tambourine

All throughout the Bible we see songs of praise and thanksgiving. Singing is a powerful way to express our gratitude. You can make a fun tambourine by filling a paper plate with dry beans and stapling another on top. Your child can decorate the tambourine or you can print out this cover in this activity pack

You can find these activities along with the devotional guided questions and more in the Be Thankful Always Activity Pack

Let me know – have you done any of these fun activities?
